The worst is hopefully over but the heat isn't going away just yet! It's difficult to maintain your day-to-day when you're feeling tired, sticky, and uncomfortable. So here are a few things you can do to keep cool and safe in scorching temperatures.
Stay Hydrated Hot weather results in sweating which can lead to you overheating if you don't replenish those vital fluids. Make sure to keep a water bottle handy as you go about your day to ensure you stay sufficiently hydrated.
Stay In The Shade When you are outdoors, make sure to wear a hat and sun cream to protect yourself from the sun's harsh UV rays. Limit your time in direct sunlight and try to stay in shaded, cooler areas.
Wear What Makes You Feel Comfortable Tight, dark clothing traps in heat so make sure to opt for breathable, loose-fitting, lighter clothing to keep you cool.
Keep Your Hot Zones Cool If you feel yourself getting a bit too warm, keep a wet washcloth on your wrists and neck or take a cool shower or sponge bath to bring your body temperature down.
Get Creative With Your Fan If you position your fan to face and blow out of an open window, it will essentially suck hot air from inside the room and move it out creating a cooler space for everyone! You can also do this trick with a ceiling fan by setting the fan to spin counter-clockwise, pulling hot air up and out of the space.
Summertime can be fun but also dangerous if you don't take precautions. Be sure to keep safe and stay cool.
Don't forget, the gyms also have air conditioning, so even if you come in just to lap up the cold air, we won't judge!
