At Welcome Gym, we have an array of different members from all walks of life. This time we are shedding light on one of our Southend members, Preeti Aggarwal. Here is her story:
Preeti is a returning member who has been in self-isolation for the past 2 years due to the pandemic. Preeti has Spina Bifida, a condition in which part of the spinal cord is exposed through the backbone. There are various types of Spina Bifida and they can cause a variety of difficulties in people living with it. That did not stop Preeti though, after coming out of isolation she was more than ready to get her life back on track. She returned to the gym and started her training program with Leaviel, one of our PTs.
Preeti has done all sorts of exercises including lat pull downs, leg extensions, dumbell curls and even some boxing all while being graciously trained by Leaviel. After 12 weeks, Preeti's confidence and strength have improved massively. She's loving the training and calls us her second home. She has taken part in Sober October to raise money for Macmillan Cancer support and to challenge herself to a month off the booze. She says she hasn't missed it!
