The Festive Season is here and with all the celebration and much-deserved time spent with family and friends, it can be easy for us to forget to make time for our physical fitness and health. Here are some surefire ways to make sure you keep active during the holidays:
Make Cardio A PriorityWith family, friends, food and celebration at the core of this season, your usual 2-hour gym session may need to be cut short to accommodate all your events, outings, and gatherings. We recommend adapting your routine to incorporate more cardio so that you are still reaching your goals but in a quicker timeframe. Getting in a run on the treadmill or a spin sesh in the morning is a nice way to make sure you are burning calories. You can also try one of our
HIIT classes which will give you the intensity you are looking for but in under 20 minutes.
Resistance TrainingDuring the holidays it's natural to eat plenty of different foods that you may not usually consume during the rest of the year. This means for this period, your body is most likely in a calorie surplus and this is the BEST time to build muscle. Amp up your resistance training routine to make the most of all the yummy festive food.
Dancing... A LOT of DancingWho says partying can't make you fit? Celebrate the season by hitting the dance floor with your friends and get your body moving. Dancing can burn plenty of calories so don't underestimate the power a night out on the town has on your fitness routine.
Don't Forget To Eat Your GreensWhile all the roasts and bakes on the table are too delectable to resist, don't make the mistake of excluding your fruits and veggies from your festive diet. Veggies and fruit contain fibre which helps transport excess waste in your body, as well as, help with your gut and mental health. Load up on your vegetable to keep you feeling full and healthy.
These are our top tips to help you keep your goals in mind and your fitness in check over the silly season - ready to hit the ground running (literally) in the new year!
