Know what YOU want out of itWhen choosing a trainer, ask yourself:
What are 5 things I want my trainer to help me achieve? Is your goal to lose weight? Or perhaps you need someone to help you stay accountable. Do you want a trainer to help you build a sense of community or is it simply that you need help building muscle? Everyone has different goals and most trainers specialise in a specific area which means you will know who to narrow it down to.
How many times per week do I want to work out? This question can be a goal you set yourself or something your trainer helps you improve on. A trainer who prioritises keeping clients on track with their plans will probably be the best type of trainer to help you achieve/answer this.
What is my budget for a trainer?Trainer costs vary by location and experience. Before you begin your search for a PT, it's good to have an idea of how much you are willing to spend on fitness which will help you make an informed choice on who to go with.
Does gender matter? If you have a gender preference for who you train with, that is okay! It's the same as having any other personal preference. However, deciding this beforehand can be a big help in choosing who your trainer is.
What kind of personality do I need in a trainer?Do you want a trainer with a similar personality to yours or perhaps someone totally different to push you out of your comfort zone? Just like everyone else, all PTs are different so make sure you go with your gut AND consider what you want to achieve!
