The Gym Games is in a few short days, and we are so excited to have you challenge yourself and test your fitness! Now that you know
where to get your challenge card and how to participate from 1 July, we thought we would share how you can split your sessions into meaningful, goal-driven workouts every time you come to the gym.
To help keep you motivated over the 6 weeks of The Gym Games challenge, we have designed workouts and challenges within 5 main fitness goals. And each goal represents a ring in the 5 Olympic rings! Use these exercise objectives as inspiration to help you keep your gym sessions interesting and fun:
Week 1 - EnduranceEndurance exercises challenge your ability to sustain exercises for a prolonged period. They help to improve your overall fitness by keeping your heart, lungs and circulatory system healthy. Walking, swimming or skipping rope are great options to incorporate into endurance workouts.
Week 2 - StrengthIn fitness, strength is your body's ability to exert enough force to overcome resistance. This is why strength training usually includes resistance in the form of free weights or machines. Keep this in mind when you are training with the intent to get stronger.
Week 3 - CommitmentSometimes it can be tough to commit to the lifestyle change of regular exercise. During The Gym Games challenge, your commitment to exercising will be tested as you tick off your gym sessions every time you come in. Strive to achieve Bronze level (16 sessions), Silver level (24 sessions), or Gold level (30+ sessions) in 6 weeks from 1 July - 11 August! Be patient, give yourself time, but whatever you do, DON'T GIVE UP!
Week 4 - FlexibilitySay goodbye to reduced range of motion by ticking off sessions on your card that you dedicate to flexibility. The more flexible you are, the easier it is for your joints to move and for your mobility to improve. Reach your goal by using exercises like stretching, yoga and pilates. Try one of our Yoga and Pilates
classes by booking a spot on our mobile app.
Week 5 - AgilityYour agility, which is your ability to accelerate, decelerate, and change direction quickly, relies on a combination of balance, strength, and coordination. Enhance your agility by dedicating time to practice agility drills at the gym during The Gym Games. Plyometric jumps, ladder drills and side shuffles are all examples of agility exercise drills that you can add to your routine.
These themes form the foundation of The Gym Games. Each week, you'll receive an email detailing the week's theme and specific exercises to perform at the gym that align with it. Additionally, our blog will offer in-depth explanations, images, and examples of these exercises. Now that the formalities are covered, are you ready for The Gym Games 2024?
